Your Quick & Simple Review: “Welcome To The Blumhouse”, again

This week Prime Video released the next 2 new features as part of the “Welcome To The Blumhouse” series… “Nocturne” & “Evil Eye”… Just like the two that were released last week, these aren’t really horror flicks but like thrillers.  And depending on what you find thrilling, you might find these satisfying.

NOCTURNE

Of the four features, this is the one that I was least impressed with.  Not that there was anything wrong with it.  For me, the story just kinda dragged as they tried to create intensity and friction between the sisters, Juliet & Vivian.   The moments they tried to create as big, weren’t really that.   I think the most fun I had with this movie was trying to figure out if Vivian (Madison Iseman) was the girl from the Jumanji movies… spoiler alert:  she is.   I see what director, Zu Quirke was trying to do, but unfortunately, hit a sour note so it came off as very generic.

EVIL EYE

Right off the bat, I thought this one was gonna be cheesy and predictable.  To a point I was right.  But not in a bad way.  As I watched it, the more interested I  became, finding most of my predictions were wrong.  However, the reveal in the final act could have been much better, fortunately, the action that goes along with it kinda saved it.  But as a horror flick fan, I could have used more.  I think this is gonna be one of those movies you’ll be ok with watching, but not in a rush to see it again anytime soon.
