Your Quick & Simple Review: “Morbius”

So after a few delays, the new movie, Morbius is finally coming to theaters.  And to be honest, they should have delayed it again to do some reshoots to make this one better.  I think the only people who are gonna appreciate this movie, are the folks that make the DCEU movies.  Cause finally, they don’t make the worst superhero movies now.  That’s gonna go to any studio trying to make a Marvel movie that isn’t part of the MCU.

Now, Jared Leto is a top-notch actor, and it sucks that his 2nd go-around in the superhero genre is even worse than the first one (Suicide Squad).  And honestly, it’s not his fault.  He’s actually one of the good things about Morbius, but that isn’t enough to save this film from itself.  A dark character like Morbius is vicious.  And if you’re gonna put him on the big screen, you had better do it correctly.  The second they made it a PG-13 film, instead of an R, I knew they were gonna cut corners with the brutality of the character, so they can get those younger audience dollars.  I guess they forgot that Deadpool made more than $700 million at the box office and it was a rated R film.

Morbius is a very slow-paced film.  Mixed with the soft-spoken dialog of almost everybody, it made seem longer than it really was.  I also had a hard time with some of the special effects.  Some seemed to look ok but during a lot of the slow-motion action sequences, if you wanna call them “action”, you could really tell that it was CGI.

It’s not often I recommend passing on seeing a film, and as much as I’d like to here, I would rather say… see it during the matinee times, when it’s a lil cheaper.  Then you might not feel so bad spending your hard-earned money on a movie that should have been so much better.
