AQP II WALLPAPER

Your Quick & Simple Review: “A Quiet Place Part II”

It’s not often that a movie sequel can pick up right where it leaves off and then be just as good or even better than the first film.  But credit where credit is due, John Krasinski’s, AQP Part II does exactly that.

I liked how we finally see Day 1.  The day the invasion takes place.  And all the craziness that ensued once these alien creatures hit the streets.  Then a quick leap forward to Day 474, where we find a scared Evelyn (Emily Blunt) on the move with her children, including a newborn baby, looking for a safe shelter to stay.  Where she finds her one-time neighbor, Emmett (Cillian Murphy), who has no desire to help any other surviving human.   But the action escalates quickly and has jump scares scattered throughout.  Also, as much as Regan & Marcus (Millicent Simmonds & Noah Jupe) frustrated me, they were definitely two of the best things about this one.  Especially during the third act when they both become the focus of events happening and have to find the courage to be heroic.

There was only a couple of things that disappointed me.  The first was the use of Djimon Hounsou.  While I was watching, I kept thinking, I saw him in the trailer… So, where is he?… Then when he finally arrives, his part was done in a matter of minutes.   It was like, C’mon!!!!  You don’t have a performer like him in this just for that.  The second was, during the flashback, we still didn’t see how they discovered these aliens tracked by sound.  Maybe I missed it or don’t remember that in the first movie, but if they didn’t, they passed on that part again.

All in all, I really liked A Quiet Place Part II.  Even though the movie requires the characters to be as quiet as possible, the big screen with its Dolby surround sound is absolutely the best way to see this film, especially when the action kicks in.  I think fans should & will show up to the theaters to check it out this long Memorial Day weekend.
