Monica Nelson
Monica Nelson is a 25 year veteran broadcast personality, first cracking a mic (in a train depot turned radio station) on the prairies of South Dakota. After completing her Journalism degree and stints in Oklahoma and Chicago, she has called Arizona “home” for two decades.
You may have heard her voice as you wait on-hold throughout the valley, viewed snippets of her on 3TV, ABC 15, Fox 10, 12 News, AZ’s Morning Scramble, but, depending on your involvement in sports activities, you may also recognize her as one of the ‘overly enthusiastic’ mothers yelling from quite a few sidelines too.
She is a proud mom of 3 children, Zach, Eli and Sophia. Living in the desert continues to thrill her, as most of her 8 siblings continue to shovel their winter snow before hopping a plane to her place.
Hiking and biking are 2 of her favorite outdoor activities, and she is a little “home” obsessed from decorating to renovating, she tries it all! Her husband doesn’t question her “sometimes outrageous” ideas and is quite handy, so that’s a definite ‘plus’ (in project completion and their marriage as well)! Reading everything she gets her hands on is also a passion along with volunteering and public speaking for numerous children’s, women’s and health organizations. Connecting with listeners and viewers is her ultimate goal – and learning a little something on a daily basis is the cherry on top!
